Category Management Global Process Owner

Job Description:

The Category Management Global Process Owner will be a key member of the Enterprise Supply Chain Sourcing organization. The successful candidate will be focused on defining and optimizing standard processes and lead the team supporting the Category Management Process.

Position Background and Essential Responsibilities:

  • The Enterprise Supply Chain organization leads and manages the end to end Source to Pay lifecycle and process consisting of Category Management, Source to Contract, Purchase to Pay and Supplier Development and Management. Each major process within Source to Pay has a Global Process Owner (GPO) reporting to the end-to-end Source to Pay Global Process Owner and responsible for defining and optimizing standard processes globally and supporting systems and tool configurations. The overall objective of the GPO is to deliver and continuously improve process excellence.

  • Each GPO is responsible for developing, enhancing and managing change for their applicable global processes globally

  • Align organizational accountability for process excellence

  • Standardize, simplify, optimize and automate processes globally

  • Understand all material process variances globally and their inherent risks and inefficiencies

  • Establish strategic priorities to ensure alignment with various stakeholders

  • Develop and manage a program of process improvement projects

  • Measure program effectiveness with established performance metrics

  • Through process excellence, the objectives of the GPO are to:

  • Reduce risk

  • Improve compliance

  • Increase operational efficiency

  • Increase quality / value to business partners

  • Reduce operational costs

  • The Category Management GPO optimizes the Category Management process, which includes the following major sub-processes:

  • Develop Category Strategy

  • Align Business Stakeholders

  • Perform Category Governance

  • The Category Management GPO supports the annual and ongoing category planning process including the facilitation of category plan reviews with the Sourcing Management Team.


Qualification, Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in Category Management and/or Process Management and Analytics

  • Process improvement experience is required; LEAN and/or Six Sigma certification is preferred

  • Experience with eSourcing systems such as SAP, Ariba, Oracle Source to Contract

  • Highly collaborative with a strong appreciation for diversity and respect for others

  • Experience working in a multi-national complex organization

  • Strong project management experience; effectively organize and manage multiple tasks

  • Ability to communicate effectively, build relationships and influence others

  • Strong business acumen and critical thinking mindset

  • Strong attention to detail and process

  • Ability to effective perform in a constantly changing environment

  • Previous work in a Financial Institution is a plus
