The individual Network Engagement Consultant will work directly with a specific set of our global Network Partners to ensure we are utilizing the Akamai deployments to the best of our ability. This involves troubleshooting issues escalated from our Network Operations Center and other groups, proactively monitoring performance, upgrading and managing the relationship with our partners. Work is managed through a ticketing system and often involves several groups across the company. Opportunities exist for improving processes, cross-functional interactions, and tool building.

As a Network Engagement Consultant you will be responsible for:

  • Troubleshooting escalated network, hardware, or relationship issues directly with Akamai's Network Partners and ISPs through phone and email.

  • Managing the process of new deployments including instructing Network Partners on the process of racking and configuring Akamai hardware.

  • Maintaining records of hardware assets.

  • Utilizing a variety of scripts, tools, and monitoring systems to ensure proactive communication and relationship optimization.

  • Maintaining group and individual ticket queues.

  • Assisting in building tools and formulating methods for project managing partner deployments, tracking internal processes, and improving traffic distribution over the network.

  • Bringing about creative ideas to improve upon the Akamai Accelerated Network Partnership Program.

  • Analyzing and report on trends affecting the network.

Required Education and Experience

Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:

  • 2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent or

  • Relevant experience and a Master’s degree or PhD or

  • Relevant Professional Experience

  • Familiarity with Internet protocols and Networking including BGP, DNS, and TCP/IP

  • Excellent inter-personal and partner relationship development skills. Ability to set, manage and deliver Network partner expectations.

  • Ability and desire to speak to multiple people at varying levels within an organization and of varying technical backgrounds.

  • Superior coordination and multitasking skills; positive, goal-oriented attitude and demeanor to work through roadblocks, motivate external concerns, and bring about project closure.

  • Willingness to develop and/or improve procedures, documentation, and tools.
